Newcastle announce £190m Woolsington Hall training complex for 2029/30 season

Matthias Jaissle has discussed Newcastle United’s vision for a new training facility and the club’s aspirations both on and off the field.

The Magpies boss believes the ambitious plans demonstrate the standards expected of a club with big objectives, and he feels he and his youthful squad have the foundation to progress towards a promising era in their new surroundings.

Newcastle confirmed on Thursday that they have agreed a deal to acquire the Woolsington Hall estate as the location for their new state-of-the-art training headquarters.

The project, priced at £190million, will see the club secure 260 acres of land situated to the south of the city’s airport and is scheduled for completion ahead of the 2029/30 campaign.

Jaissle is hopeful he will still be at the helm when the facility opens, and he believes the plans reflect that the club’s off-field ambitions match his own objectives on the pitch.

He expressed his satisfaction that the agreement has finally been reached and announced, describing the facility as world-class and a marker of the club’s standards. He added that it represents a positive indication for the future and that the team now possesses a young squad to develop. He noted that this combination provides an excellent foundation to build upon and that he eagerly anticipates watching the project unfold. He stated that it demonstrates the club’s aspirations and that rather than causing any distraction, it simply shows the club is moving in the right direction with substantial plans.

When questioned about discussions with the club’s owners regarding their vision for Newcastle, Jaissle emphasised that he has always valued their openness about the initiative, both in terms of infrastructure and sporting plans.

He explained that they are determined about the direction the club is heading, and Thursday’s announcement about the training ground represents one step towards the bright future awaiting the club. He added that they have also been candid and practical about the current period, acknowledging that this phase involves a significant transformation. He noted that this transparency about their vision while remaining grounded about progress, combined with their drive and forward-thinking approach, is something he greatly appreciates.
