Newcastle United manager Matthias Jaissle has dismissed speculation linking Lewis Hall with a move to Manchester United, despite the Old Trafford club’s interest in the England defender.
The Red Devils are searching for a left-back to provide competition for 31-year-old Luke Shaw, with Hall reportedly their primary target. However, Chronicle Live reports that the Magpies have no intention of entertaining any offers for the 21-year-old this season.
Newcastle have already offloaded Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon during this transfer window and are unwilling to part with any more of their key players. Jaissle made this stance unmistakably clear during his post-match comments.
Following Sunday’s 2-2 stalemate with Liverpool at St James’ Park, Jaissle spoke to Viaplay Sports pitch side about Newcastle’s transfer plans ahead of the September 1 deadline. When questioned about potential incomings, the former RB Salzburg and Al-Ahli boss indicated the sporting director would face a challenging period. He acknowledged the club has requirements that need addressing. When pressed further on specific positions, Jaissle stated he would prefer to keep such details private, noting that arrivals could potentially be balanced by departures.
Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel, working as a television analyst for the broadcast, then interjected by mentioning United’s interest in Newcastle’s left-back. Jaissle responded with laughter before firmly stating the player would not be leaving.
Hall completed the full match on Sunday, delivering a solid performance at left-back before conceding a stoppage-time penalty following his challenge on Victor Munoz. Dominik Szoboszlai converted from the spot to snatch a draw, denying Jaissle’s side all three points.
